GVII - VOR Check

This would seem a fairly mundane task, but if you know where to look it is even easier than what you've done in the past because you no lnger have to bring up a needle.


What says you have to do the check?

[14 CFR 91, §91.171]

(a) No person may operate a civil aircraft under IFR using the VOR system of radio navigation unless the VOR equipment of that aircraft—

(1) Is maintained, checked, and inspected under an approved procedure; or

(2) Has been operationally checked within the preceding 30 days, and was found to be within the limits of the permissible indicated bearing error set forth in paragraph (b) or (c) of this section.

Tune both VORs

(i.e., to the local VOT 110.0)

  1. Swipe to FPLN page

  2. Select Flight Progress button

  3. Select Nav 1 DB tune button

  4. Deselect FMS Autotune, if selected

  5. Select Manual Tune box

  6. Enter VOR (or VOT) frequency or identifier

  7. Select Pri Tune button

  8. Verify Nav 1 DB Tune set as desired

  9. Repeat steps 3 to 8 for Nav 2 DB tune

Check reported radial

  1. Swipe to FPLN page

  2. Select Pos Sensors tab

  3. Read VOR/DME1 and VOR/DME2 from bottom of page

  4. Return each Nav to FMS Autotune (Steps 1 to 4 above)
